The Emperor's New Groove isn't the most ambitious animated film, but its brisk pace, fresh characters, and big laughs make for a great time for the whole family.

norriskeel still funny after all these years my step son actually sat through the whole thing amazing Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/11/22 Full Review Bethany B Brilliantly hysterical and unique!! It's even more predictable than the usual animated affair and has a very unlikable main character (honestly David Spade's voice is probably part of the unlikeability -- and I think they also struck out on the John Goodman casting too, but this could be hindsight now 20+ years later). It's frantically paced right out of the gate, without much to warm you up to any of the characters. Thin on story and thick on action, this is one of the most adrenaline-shot cartoons I can remember seeing. At least it was short. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Five Word R Iconic Disney comedy and slapstick. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Dale R A selfish Incan emperor named Kuzco, is turned into a llama as a result of a coup led by his advisor Yzma. The self-aware and meta humor in this movie is great! David Spade and John Goodman both do a good job playing the traditional roles that they play. Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton are amazing as Yzma and Kronk, the two antagonists. The story is straightforward and somewhat predictable. The animation is good and serves the comedic format of the film and story, but I wouldn’t put it in the same league as The Lion King or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Considering the major road bumps this film went through in production, I’m greatly pleased with how well it turned out! Sting was brought in as the music creator for this film and his wife filmed a documentary, The Sweatbox, that really highlights the creation of the film. I do think this movie is worth your time. Kuzco: Um, how else can I say it? "You're being let go." "Your department's being downsized." "You're part of an outplacement." "We're going in a different direction." "We're not picking up your option." Take your pick. I got more.

What does Kronk say in Emperor's New Groove? ›

Kronk : It's the peasant who I saw leaving the city who disappeared into the crowd with Kuzco in the back of his cart. He must have taken him back to his village, so if we find the village, we find him, and if we find him, we find Kuzco. Oh, yeah, it's all comin' together.

Though most of the violence is comic, slapstick violence, Yzma does try to kill Kuzco more than once, and she's not shy about saying: "I will KILL you!" Perilous falls and dark jungle scenes might be frightening for younger viewers.

Is Kuzco queer coded? ›

Kuzco is, in all seriousness, a pretty solid example of a gay-coded character (remember that gay-coded means “the creators couldn't get it past the censors, but it is implied in the subtext, to the point informed audience members should be able to recognize it with analysis.” the analysis above is very good!)

What is the famous line of Yzma? ›

Why is Kuzco a llama? ›
